I can’t speak for all chapters, but many are independent while connected to the dealership in some fashion; normally an employee within the shop to liase with any customer or member whom would have a question or issue, about or with a membership. If, by chance, the dealership doesn’t have anyone on staff who doubles as a group representative, you’ll have to find out when the next meeting is, and go to it. 

Personally, I recommend going to a meeting if you have questions and curiosities. They are all quite welcoming and if you find it’s for you, then you’ll be in the right place.
