Chaco Culture National Historical Park, New Mexico – This sprawling site in New Mexico was built up by the Chacoan people from around the 9th century and became a place of great cultural and economic importance. The most impressive structures built by this ancient population were the “Great Houses”: enormous multi-storey buildings filled with rooms.
